With the current and seemingly never-ending economic whirlwind looming constantly in the air, many people are looking for alternative means of generating or supplementing their income. With the rising cost of inflation, seeing so many people losing their jobs or are working below their educational or experience level is often more times than not, putting a heavy burden on the pocket book.

It’s a vicious cycle, but there is a solution! That solution is internet marketing, online businesses, working from home business opportunities, etc. As long as you have access to a computer and the internet, you can make a living. Sure it’s difficult to get started in the beginning, but the more you surround yourself with good people, the better off you will be.

My interest in internet marketing or online networking is very high as I work from home myself; however, I met a really cool person online on one of the popular online communities I belong to and wanted to tell her story. Her name is Olia Slad (she was #1 on the traffic leader board in the IBOToolbox community today…btw) and I thought it would be nice to hear what her thoughts were so that perhaps you could relate to her and see internet marketing from another person’s perspective.

Interview with Olia Slad: Internet Marketing

I was fortunate enough to meet Olia in the IBOtoolbox community. We took advantage of the chat feature located in the community wall where everyone introduces one another and their products and/or services in under 250 characters. Other members are motivated at first to respond to these comments as they earn free advertising credits to apply to their promotional efforts within the community.

Olia and I started chatting and after getting to know her, I was pleasantly surprised to be able to hold a conversation with a peer in this industry without constantly being sold to. It was rather refreshing. After we spoke for a while and built up a bit of a relationship, I asked her what else she liked to do online and before I knew it, I was sending her an email with questions on it asking her if I could interview her for my blog… (she may have mentioned the fact that she really enjoyed reading it…lol) and she agreed.

Here’s what came of the interview with Olia Slad, an internet marketer:

Q: Where are you from?
A: I am form Sofia, Bulgaria.

Q: Where are your customers from?
A: I have friends and business partners from all over the world.

Q: What kind of online business do you have?
A: Social networking, Internet Marketing – Auction Sites, Advertising programs, Affiliate Marketing.

Q: How long have you been marketing online?
A: I have tried with niche sites for my first months in online business, then, in October, I found ISMmagic business community, where I learned almost everything about Internet Marketing. I have been able to meet great and trusted friends and then I joined some additional online opportunities.

Q: What did you do before?
A: I am a software Developer, working right now too with Oracle databases in Insurance Business.

Q: What interested you about the world of internet marketing?
A: I like marketing and advertising. Building my business with my affiliates via referrals and networking communities. I really enjoy helping them with my knowledge and experience… oh yeah, and the money is a nice by-product of course.

Q: Are you now able to do it full time, and do you work from home?
A: I do it in my free time.

Q: What do you like most about working from home or your online business?
A: I like the freedom in my online business, being my own boss, doing what I like to do and when I like to do it; Anyway, I do a lot of online work.

Q: What communities and/or groups do you belong to that you really enjoy?
A: I enjoy ISMmagic because almost everything I know now about Safelists, traffic exchanges, social media and other types of advertising, networking and marketing opportunities. I’ve learned a lot from my friends and contacts I’ve met at ISMmagic. I can always trust them. I enjoy communicating and sharing interesting ideas about Internet Marketing and life. Everyone on the ISMmagic networking community is so friendly and always ready for advice or help.

Q: If you had any advice for someone else who is interested in started a home based business, what would you tell them?
A: Do not believe “Get Rich Quick” schemes and “Push Button” programs. You must be prepared to work at it just like you would work any other profesion. Learn to advertise and enjoy your online business to be successful. Work on building your brand first by envisioning where you will be a year from now, stay consistent, then people will learn to trust and follow you once you’ve developed a solid foundation.

Be social – complete your profile with your own picture, your business opportunities, something about you. Write on the social wall not only your biz opportunities, tell sometime something about you and your experience. Brand yourself – people want to know you are a good and a trusted person, it is much more worth than any of your programs! Then, it is easy, many of them will follow you People buy people not opportunities – if you want people to trust you and follow you in your offers – make them first know you.
